Memorial Day

Don't forget: Thanksgiving is the day we thank for the things we have. Memorial Day is the day we thank the people who sacrificed to give us the things we have.

Arizona and Immigration

Just wanted to say my piece on this new law. I don't know the details, but it seems this is more a moral/ethical debate than anything else. And here is where I stand--I think Arizona is perfectly in the right to make this law, and here is why.

The law is based on an officer's decision to pull over a vehicle and ask for the driver, and any passengers to show they are here legally, for VALID reasons. I do not see how this is ANY different than an officer pulling over a suspicious vehicle and performing a field alcohol test to figure out soberness or not. I don't see anyone complaining that this is immoral or unethical, even if the now-highly-embarrassed person was perfectly sober to begin with.

And if we have laws that we can only DRIVE A CAR if we have a VALID drivers license, why is there such a debate over being able to LIVE IN OUR COUNTRY without a proof of being here legally? Any officer pulls me over and asks me for my driver's license, society expects me to give him one. Officer pulls over a Hispanic driver and asks for one, and that's racial profiling?!

Seems like racism has taken a turn against the whites, and now nobody seems to care, cuz what--we deserve it? I say that's a load of crap.

Let's say there is a white van driving down the street, with a Hispanic driver and passenger, and the back of the van is sinking down in the back, like there is a lot of weight in the rear, and there are no side windows. Suspicious? Possibly. Officer pulls them over. Driver doesn't speak a lick of English and can't produce a driver's license. Should the officer check the back of the van? HELL YES!

People are worried about racial profiling. That police are going to target Hispanic drivers. Um, hello. Let's have a little geography lesson and answer this simple question. Based on what surrounds Arizona, where are they going to get illegal immigrants from?
a. California
b. Nevada
c. Utah
d. New Mexico
e. Mexico

Well now. Since Arizona is a BORDER state with Mexico, it would be only FACTUAL that the majority of illegal immigrants are MEXICAN. So get over it and face the facts.

And if you're going to complain about profiling, what about the chances of a speeding red Corvette being pulled over before the speeding white Corolla?

One last thing. All those people who are defending the illegal immigrants because our country was based on immigrants--THAT WAS TWO DIFFERENT CASES ENTIRELY. Thousands of immigrants from all different countries swarmed here to start a new life on "virgin" land. And yet, they were ripping it away from and killing the rightful owners--the Native Americans. So you are going to base the right Hispanics have to swarm into the country on what our ancestors did 200 years ago? Because they were in the WRONG, in BOTH cases!!!

Our ancestors had to endure the worst lives possibly, after having moved to our land. They were racially profiled, spit on, and they survived. They EARNED their right to be here. The illegal immigrants of this time come into our country unwanted, demanding we give them all the luxuries our ancestors earned for us, without having to do a damn thing except crawl over or under a fence!

Americans that "feel bad for the Mexicans because their country sucks and we should help them"--bite me. THEY made their country suck in the first place! If they don't like it, they need to stay and fix it, not bring us all their problems! And all the bleeding-heart Americans can go down into Mexico and do some community service--that would help more than just giving them welfare and jobs in our crumbling economy.

Girls Nights Out Are Healthy For The Soul

Sometimes a girl just needs a break. And when that time comes, it is always acceptable to throw on a cute shirt, heels, and go out on the town with your best friends. In my case, it is a single best friend for life, and our date of choice was Sex and the City 2. After that fantastic movie (although regrettably not as good as the first), we cruised the two main strips in our lonely little town, falling into what seemed to be a Techer raceway on Grand Ave. That brought back memories of being 16. We were good kids, if our only bad habit was driving around with our windows down and chatting

But then we return to the boys, and reality sets in. And a great girls night turned into a bad night between us. Men can really get a girl down. Inbetween all the bull about relationships, alcohol, cigarettes and this word called LOVE, somewhere there is a single girl just wanting to be herself. Girls never have to say "I Love You" because we just know. Life is so much simpler like that.
